LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Trinity clinched the No. 1 seed for the SCAC Men's Soccer Conference Tournament with a 1-0 shutout victory over Southwestern this past Friday. The SCAC seedings came into position after this weekend's play as the tournament starts on Friday. All games will be hosted by Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas with the Championship Game on Sunday.

AROUND THE SCAC

The Austin College men's soccer team dropped its final two regular season matches of the season, falling 3-1 to Centenary and 1-0 to UC Santa Cruz to finish the regular season with a record of 4-12-3. Against Centenary, the 'Roos jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a goal by Caleb Walters in the 24th minute but the Gents scored twice before half and added a third goal in the second half to make it 3-1. Against Santa Cruz, the 'Roos took a defensive battle late into the second half but the Banana Slugs tallied in the 76th minute of action and Austin College was unable to counter. Andrew Celio made two saves against Centenary and nine against UCSC.

Centenary
men's soccer team concluded the 2013 campaign in winning fashion on Friday afternoon as the Gents claimed a 3-1 victory at Austin College.  Zachary Kidder, Gabriel Zahm and Cole Davidson each recorded goals to lead the Maroon and White to the victory as Rylan Whan and Austin Andrews combined for seven saves. Whan registered his second, career win in goal with 45 minutes in net and four saves. Andrews closed out the evening for the Gents collecting three saves. Centenary finishes 2-17 overall and 2-12 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Brandon Ogilvie, Andrew Salazar and Kai Thompson made the most of their final home game in a Colorado College uniform. Ogilvie struck for his sixth game-winning goal of the season, Salazar recorded a career-best four points with a goal and two assists, and Thompson made six saves en route to a shutout in his first career game. The end result was a 3-0 victory over Johnson & Wales University in a non-conference game on Wednesday afternoon. It took only 3:24 for Ogilvie to notch the only goal the Tigers would need with a laser to the upper right corner from 12 yards out off a feed from Salazar. The duo clicked again a little more than eight minutes later, but this time it was Salazar who one-timed a cross from Ogilvie into the center of the net. Salazar picked up his second assist in the 60th minute when the JWU keeper was unable to control the rebound of his shot and junior midfielder Hunter Martinez was there to blast the rebound into the open net. At the other end of the pitch, Thompson became the third different CC goalkeeper to record a clean sheet this season, joining sophomores Ian Horne (7) and Tom Crosby (1). During Sunday's 5-1 victory at Dallas, Salazar struck for a pair of goals and added three assists to fuel Colorado College's offense. Ogilvie put the Tigers on the board in the 14th minute when he converted a feed from Salazar into his SCAC-leading 14th tally of the season. He extended his goal-scoring streak to a season-best three games now has six goals and three assists during his career-long six-game point streak. A little more than seven minutes later, sophomore midfielder Max Grossenbacher struck for his fourth goal of the season to give Colorado College a two-goal lead. The Crusaders knotted the score in the 57th minute, but the Tigers regained the lead 12 minutes later when junior defender Alec Sowers struck for his first goal of the season, which proved to be his first career game winner. Salazar added an insurance tally in the 81st minute and completed the first multiple-goal game of his career with 1:18 remaining in the contest. Sophomore midfielder Seth Newby extended his point streak to a career-best four games with an assist on Salazar's second tally. Horne stopped four shots, including three in the second half. Salazar's seven points are the most for a Tiger since Matt Fechter recorded eight on four goals in a 5-1 victory at Southwestern University on Oct. 23, 2011. His three assists are the most since Fechter recorded three in a 4-0 victory over Fredonia State on Sept. 14, 2012. CC's five goals are a season high, and during their current six-game winning streak, the Tigers have averaged 3.33 goals per game and outscored their opponents 20-4. Colorado College will carry a six-match winning streak into Friday's match against Austin College in the quarterfinals of the SCAC tournament at Southwestern.

The University of Dallas men's soccer team ended their 2013 campaign with a 5-2 loss to Colorado College on Saturday afternoon in Irving, Texas. After trailing 2-0 to the Tigers, the Crusaders opened the second-half with two unanswered goals. Freshman forward Barton Holdridge scored at 49:36 from junior midfielders Nathan Nwaeze and Matt Wise. Junior midfielder Juan Hernandez-Reyes followed suit 13 minutes later with a wonder-strike assisted by junior defender Amir Nail. It was all CC, however, from this point onward, as the Tigers deposited three goals to round-off scoring. Andrew Salazar tallied two goals and three assists on the day to the chagrin of Dallas.

The Schreiner Mountaineers were 0-1 on the week.   On Friday, Schreiner fell to Texas Lutheran University (0-1). Schreiner will play Texas Lutheran (Friday, November 8th).

The Southwestern men's soccer team closed out the regular season with an epic match against Trinity on Friday night at home. Emotions ran high as both teams battled for first place. In front of a record crowd the Pirates fell 1-0 to end the regular season in second place. Southwestern enters the SCAC as the #2 seed and play host to the tournament that begins on Friday evening.

The Texas Lutheran game on Friday was controlled throughout by the Bulldogs, which held Schreiner to just two total shots on the day. Only one of those shots was on target, making for a relatively stress-free day from Bulldog keeper Jonathan Michael. The sophomore made one save in notching his seventh shutout of the season. Alejandro Martinez scored the game's only goal and the Texas Lutheran men's soccer team wrapped up its regular season on a high note with a 1-0 shutout on the road Friday against Schreiner. Martinez, a freshman forward, gave the Bulldogs the lead in the 28th minute of play. The goal was set up by junior Andrew Welsch, his first assist of the season. The goal was Martinez's fourth of the year, good for third most on the team. He has shown a propensity for coming up with goals when his team needs them the most too, with three of the four goals being of the game-winning variety.

No. 7 Trinity
clinched the top seed at the SCAC Tournament with a 1-0 win over Southwestern University on Friday night in Georgetown, Texas.  The Tigers extended the team's winning streak to 14 consecutive games, and avenged a home loss to Southwestern from earlier in the season. Tom Carwile scored on Yuri Ribeiro's corner kick in the 24th minute, which marked the 13th assist of the season for Ribeiro.  The goal was the seventh of the season for Carwile, as well as his third game-winner.  The game marked Trinity's seventh consecutive shutout against Division III opponents. With the top seed in the tournament, which is hosted by Southwestern, Trinity will receive a first-round bye, and will not play until Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m.  The Tigers will face either #4 Texas Lutheran or #5 Schreiner, who play at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.  Should Trinity win, the Tigers will advance to Sunday's SCAC Championship game at 1:00 p.m.  Trinity won the SCAC Tournament last season in San Antonio.
