Colorado College's Ogilvie, Trinity's Hayes Earn SCAC Men's Soccer Players of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Colorado College senior Brandon Ogilvie and Trinity senior Jeff Hayes have been named SCAC Players of the Week for their outstanding performance this past weekend during conference play.

 

 





SCAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games of September 23 – September 29

BRANDON OGILVIE OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a senior forward from Manchester Center, Vermont, has been selected the SCAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday, September 23 through Sunday, September 29. 

Ogilvie scored three goals, two of which were game winners, and added an assist to lead Colorado College to three victories last week. 

Ogilvie scored twice in a 3-1 non-conference victory at Johnson & Wales University on Wednesday, including the game winner in the 30th minute. During Friday's 2-0 triumph at Schreiner, he set up Caden MacKenzie's second tally with a little less than 30 minutes to play.

Ogilvie
finished the week by scoring the deciding goal on a penalty kick early in the second half of Sunday's 2-0 win at Texas Lutheran. 

Ogilvie already has set single-season highs with five goals and 12 points.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior forward Steven Resnik of Southwestern scored the game winner and only goal against Centenary College on Sunday to keep the Pirates perfect in SCAC conference play. He took nine shots, five on goal for a .556 shots on goal percentage. Senior midfielder Darren McAfee of Trinity University scored a goal in each game for the Tigers, as well as assisting on the game-winning goal against Centenary on Friday night. McAfee led an offense that accounted for 15 goals over the weekend. Austin College, Centenary, Dallas, Schreiner, and Texas Lutheran did not nominate anyone for Offensive Player-of-the-Week.
 


SCAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Games of September 23 – September 29

JEFF HAYES OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior defender from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday, September 23 through Sunday, September 29.

Hayes led Trinity's defense to a pair of shutouts over the weekend, extending the team's winning streak and shutout streak to four games.

In addition to holding Centenary and Austin College scoreless, Hayes contributed two goals and an assist to the cause.  In the second half against Austin, he had a goal and an assist to cap the weekend for the Tigers.

After starting the season injured, Hayes made his return to the lineup this weekend, leading the Tigers to the two shutouts, and scoring two goals and an assist as well.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman defender Christian Wulff of Colorado College averaged 86 minutes per game during Colorado College's two shutout victories last weekend in Texas. He helped the Tiger defense limit their opponents to 12 shots and only four shots on target. Senior defender Matthew Nickell of Southwestern assisted on the game winning goal for the Pirates on Sunday to keep SU perfect in conference play. He was also a major part of the Pirate defense that posted two shutout wins and held opponents to just 11 shots, 5 on goal, in two matches. Austin College, Centenary, Dallas, Schreiner, and Texas Lutheran did not nominate anyone for Defensive Player-of-the-Week.
