SCAC Trending Competition Kicks Off

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) announced the start of a social media based competition for each member institution beginning on Wednesday, September 3. The contest, named “SCAC Trending,”  will continue throughout the academic year.

To earn points on Twitter, each tweet with the designated hashtag will receive one point. On Instagram, any picture posted from a school-sponsored sporting event with the hashtag in the description will receive two points. If the picture is related to your university in some way, but not from a sporting event, it will only receive one point.

The weekly competitions will run Monday-Sunday. On Monday mornings, all of the points will be added up to decide on a winner. The winner will be announced on the SCAC website as well as the Twitter and Instagram accounts (@scac_sports) Tuesday mornings.

Though statistics will be tracked through the entirety of SCAC Trending, the competition will renew each week, and the “weekly leader” will be determined from only the previous week’s social media action. This way, each institution has a clean slate on Monday for the upcoming week.
