SCAC Trending Competition Results (Week 2)

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference announced the Southwestern Pirates as the winner of the SCAC Trending competition for the week beginning Monday, September 7 and ending Sunday, September 15.

The Pirates finished in a tight race with the defending winner, Texas Lutheran. Only two points stood between the teams after the final count. Southwestern accumulated 238 points while TLU wasn’t far behind with 236.

The ‘Roos of Austin College came in at third for the second week in a row, earning 181 points. Colorado College improved from eighth place last week to sixth place, with a point total of 50.

Every school in the SCAC saw follower increases on both Twitter and Instagram. The Pirates saw a big jump on Instagram, gaining 38 new followers, while the Bulldogs had the biggest increase on Twitter, moving from 1694 to 1731 followers.

Points were tallied by hashtag usage on Twitter and Instagram, with one point awarded for every time the school's designated hashtag was used in a tweet and two points each time a it was used in an Instagram picture taken at a school-sponsored sporting event.

The winning school will nominate one or more student-athletes to gain access to the SCAC Instagram account, using it to post photos from sporting events over the weekend. The students that will be taking over the account will be announced Thursday morning and they will have access to @scac_sports on Instagram through Sunday evening.
