Georgia Mullins, Colorado College, Offensive Player of the Week (Week 2)

GEORGIA MULLINS OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a senior middle hitter from Olathe, Kansas, has been named the SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Tuesday, September 7 through Sunday, September 12. SCAC Volleyball Release (Week 2)

Mullins was the most dominant player on both sides of the net while earning MVP honors at the 2021 Spike It Up Classic. Offensively, Mullins hit .590 (48-2-78) and averaged 4.00 kills per set. She did not commit a hitting error in three of four matches, giving her 16 career matches without an error when she had double-digit attacks. She hit .583 or better in three of four matches, and now has 17 career matches in which she hit .500 or above while putting away double-digit kills. The senior middle hitter had 14 kills and hit a season-best .737 in the sweep of West Region rival Occidental College on Friday night, and hit .667 with 12 kills on 18 attacks in the tournament finale against Moravian.

Mullins raised her season hitting percentage to .568 and her career mark to .392, which is the school record. 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior outside hitter Annie Rose Leggett of Trinity led the top-ranked Tigers in kills (33), averaging 3.30 per set, in the East to West Battle at Cal Lutheran which featured matches against the No. 2 and No. 6 teams in the nation. Leggett also collected 4.00 digs per set which equated to 40 digs total to post the first two double-doubles of her season against the host Regals and sixth-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Junior outside hitter Maddy Schultz of Texas Lutheran had 40 kills (2.86 kills per set) and hit .356 over the weekend as the Bulldogs went 4-0 at the Rhodes College Classic. She had 17 kills in TLU's 3-2 tournament-opening victory over the host school Rhodes. Sophomore middle blocker Laynee Beam of St. Thomas averaged 3.75 kills per set, posting 30 on the weekend, as the Celts took top honors at the Hendrix (Ark.) College Invitational. Beam, who earned all-Tournament honors, hit .240 on the weekend (30 kills with 12 errors on 75 total attacks) and added 10 blocks. Junior middle blocker Riley Brantley of Southwestern finished the week with 20 kills in 10 sets for an average of 2.00 kills per set. She recorded her best match against Carnegie Mellon with 14 kills on a .355 clip. Brantly finished with a .226 hitting percentage for the week and also contributed eight block assists. First-year middle hitter Brianna Barch of Austin College had a big weekend as the 'Roos went 3-1, averaging 2.45 kills-per-set with a .317 hitting percentage. Barch reached double digits in kills twice, including 11 kills on 16 attacks with zero errors in a three set sweep of Huntingdon (Ala.), giving her a .688 attacking percentage in that match. She also averaged 1.09 blocks-per-set for the weekend. Senior outside hitter Alyssa Davis of Centenary led the Ladies to a doubleheader sweep over Williams Baptist on Saturday in team's home opener. Davis continued her impressive senior season by recording 15 kills, four digs, an assist and a pair of aces in the first match of the day and followed that with 14 kills, nine digs, and an ace in match two. She finished the day with 29 kills,13 digs, an assist, and three aces. Davis also posted 10 kills, four digs, three assists, and an ace in a road match last Tuesday at Grambling to finish the week with double-digit kills in each of the three matches.
