Four SCAC Student-Athletes to Compete at NCAA Track & Field Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- In a list released last week, four Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference track and field athletes were selected to compete at the 2021 NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships on May 27-29 at the Irwin Belk Track in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Trinity University will be represented by two athletes, while Colorado College and Texas Lutheran University will each be sending one student-athlete to the championships to represent the SCAC.

For each men’s individual event contested, including the decathlon, the top 17 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each women’s individual event contested, including the heptathlon, the top 19 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition.

On the men’s side, Colorado College’s Josh Fry is the first CC athlete to qualify for the Division III national meet in two separate events. He will run in the 800- and 1500-meter races.

The Bethesda, Md., native qualified for the 1500 race last Thursday with a school-record time of 3:49.97, the seventh-fastest in Division III this season. The junior also has the 12th fastest time in the 800, an altitude-adjusted 1:51.38 at the Air Force Twilight Open on May 7. His actual time of 1:52.66 is also a school record.

Texas Lutheran’s Scottie Reyes qualified 13th out of the 17 men's discus student-athletes that are scheduled to compete at the national championships. Reyes' qualifying mark of 50.17 meters (164 feet, 7 inches) is a Texas Lutheran Men's Track & Field record. Reyes is the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference champion in the discus.

Trinity’s Sean Majors will compete for the second time in his career in the national championships after qualifying seventh in the long jump with a leap of 7.35m. As a freshman, Majors finished 10th at the 2019 championships. The junior posted his NCAA qualifying mark back on March 5th at the Trinity Invitational.

On the women’s side, Trinity’s Jordyn White qualified in the long jump following her historical performance last weekend at the Gregory Invitational, hosted by North Central College (Ill.).

White surged into third-place nationally and won her event with a new PR of 5.92 in the long jump. The Sophomore previously held a long jump PR of 5.58; that jump was recorded at the UIW Invitational earlier in the 2021 season. With this new PR, White now holds the school record for long jump. Britney Sillivan '18 previously held the record in the long jump with a 5.71.
