Southwestern, the 16th-ranked team in the nation, improves to 16-4 with the win as the Pirates seek to defend their tournament title against Trinity in a rematch  of the last year's championship. Tomorrow's championship match is scheduled for 9 a.m., and will be played at the Cree Family Tennis Center on the campus of Schreiner.

The Pirates swept doubles play with relative ease, taking 8-1 victories on both the No. 1 and No. 2 line and an 8-2 win at No. 3.

Following a short weather delay, the Pirates' Emma Kesterson gave her team a 4-0 lead with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over CC's Elizabeth Girian and Nina Mitrofanova clinched the match for Southwestern with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Christian Heffron at No. 1 singles.

Sunday's matchup marks the sixth consecutive year the tournament has been contested (and seventh overall) the two have met in the championship match with Trinity holding a 4-1 edge over that stretch. Southwestern, however, has the most recent bragging rights having broken through for the program's first-ever conference title at last year's championship.
