Trinity Duo Garner All-American Honors at NCAA Track & Field Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) sent four athletes to compete at the 2021 NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships, last week at the Irwin Belk Track Complex in Greensboro, North Carolina, highlighted by a pair of All-American performances.

Trinity junior Sean Majors took home third place in the men’s long jump after posting a leap of 7.17m to secure All-American accolades. Majors is the first Tiger long jumper to earn All-American honors since Todd Wildman finished sixth in 2009.

Trinity sophomore Jordyn White also captured All-American honors in the women’s long jump to become the first-ever TU Tiger to earn All-American accolades in the long jump in program history. White finished eighth with a mark of 5.52m.

Other highlights included Colorado College’s Josh Fry and Texas Lutheran’s Scottie Reyes.

Fry, the first CC athlete to qualify for the NCAA Meet in two events, completed the 1,500-meter final in a time of 3:50.58. His 11th-place result is the best by a CC male at nationals since Julian Boggs finished fifth in the 5K in 2007.

Fry, the reigning SCAC cross country individual champion, placed 13th in the 800-meter preliminaries earlier in the meet.

Reyes finished 14th in the men’s discus after qualifying 13th in the 17-man field. Reyes' best toss of the day came on his third attempt with a mark of 43.79 meters.
