JACK HUSSIN OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a junior from Phoenixville, Pa., has been selected the SCAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week for performances during the meets swam Monday, October 9 to Sunday, October 15. SCAC Swimming & Diving Release (Week 2)

Hussin was instrumental in the Tigers' wins over Trinity this weekend. He won three of his four individual events and swam to the team's fastest relay splits. On Friday, after being just out-touched in the 200 free (1:45.52), he came back to win the 100 free in another exciting finish (47.71). He also split 21.14 on the 200 free relay. In Saturday's meet, Hussin won both the 100 free (47.25) and 200 free (1:46.71), and also split 46.50 on the 400 free relay. 

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Monty Cortez of McMurry was a key factor in the War Hawks' home opening wins over Centenary over the weekend. Cortez took first in three individual events, winning the 200 back and 200 IM events on Friday as well as the 100 back on Saturday. He also led off the War Hawks' winning 400 medley and 200 medley relay teams. First-year Nick Gordon of Centenary had another big weekend for the Gents, picking up three individual wins and a pair of runner-up finishes in a pair of dual meets against McMurry in Abilene, Texas. On Friday, Gordon claimed a win in the 100 free (51.64) and finished second in the 200 IM (2:14,32) and on Saturday he won both the 50 free (23.13) and 100 fly (57.01) and finished second in the 100 back (1:04.21). Senior Nathan Early of Trinity started his season with three wins on Friday night at Colorado College. He cinched the 200 medley relay victory with a freestyle anchor leg of 21.11, and followed that up with a win in the 200 free, touching in 1:45.52. Early ended Friday night splitting 21.21 on the winning 200 free relay. On Saturday, he was second in the 100 free with a time of 47.42, and he split 47.14 to secure a win in the 400 free relay to close out the meet. First-year Oscar Mayorga of St. Thomas made a splash at the first ever Celt swim meet against Loyola and Southwestern this past weekend. In two days of action, the freshman was the fastest SCAC swimmer in the 200 free with 1:50:03, and in the 500 free at 5:04.62. He also won the 1000 free with a time of 10:25:45. Sophomore Andrew Renninger of Southwestern won the 100 IM in a time of 57.35 at this past weekend's tri meet with St. Thomas and Loyola. Renninger also won the 200 back in a time of 2:01.92.
