Trinity Leads Three SCAC Schools In Learfield Standings

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Trinity University sits in 25th place to lead all Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference member institutions in the 2021-22 Division III Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup final fall standings. Complete Standings

The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships. 

The Trinity Tigers have totaled 187 points in the overall standings, based on NCAA postseason competition, led by the women's volleyball team racking up 73.00 points after advancing to the Division III region finals and finishing in a tie for fifth place. The women's soccer team also posted a Top 10 finish, advancing to the third round for 64 points. The men's soccer team as well as the football program both qualified for national championship competition and earned 25 points each in the NACDA standings.

Colorado College sits in 57th place with 97 points following the completion of the fall season. The Tigers' volleyball team earned 50 points following its run to the regional semifinals while the CC women's cross country team totaled 47 points after its 27th place finish at the NCAA Division III Championship meet.

Rounding out the SCAC teams in the fall standings was Southwestern, which is in a 20-way tie for 97th place with 50 points. The Pirates earned their points after their volleyball team advanced to the regional semifinals.

Johns Hopkins has the lead in the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Div. III fall standings with 471.00 points, while Middlebury sits in second (397.50) and Tufts is third overall with 330.50 points.

To date, seven fall NCAA Div. III championships have been completed with the following institutions capturing titles: women’s cross country – Johns Hopkins; men’s cross country – Pomona Pitzer; field hockey – Middlebury; women's volleyball – Wisconsin-Eau Claire; women’s soccer – Christopher Newport; men’s soccer – Connecticut; football – Mary Hardin-Baylor.
