HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Colorado College struck first when Alexander Ward punched in the game's first goal off a scrum from a throw in the 23rd minute. He picked up the second goal of the contest just 23 seconds later, beating the keeper on a through ball, to give the CC Tigers a 2-0 lead.
  • Less than a minute after Trinity's Adjei got Trinity on the board in the 27th minute, the Texas Tigers found the equalizer through the 10th goal of the season from senior forward Michael Somerville.
  • After Adjei put the Tigers on top early in the second half (45:54), less than five minutes later, Kyle Davis collected what would become the gamewinner in the 51st minute to give Trinity a 4-2 lead.

NOTABLES

  • The 23 seconds between goals by CC's Ward is the shortest amount of time between goals in SCAC tournament history. The previous mark was the 24 seconds it took between goals by Trinity's Chris Madden and Brent Mandelkorn in the 2016 semifinal against Austin College, which was also played in Sherman but on the natural surface soccer field.
  • Less than a minute after Trinity's Adjei got Trinity on the board, the Texsa Tigers found the equalizer through the 10th goal of the season from senior forward Michael Somerville.
  • All four first-half strikes between both squads of Tigers came in a five-minute window of play from the 23rd to the 28th minutes.
  • CC's Ward is the second Colorado College man to have a three-goal tournament game. He joins former Tiger Christian Wulff, who had a hat trick in a 6-0 semifinal victory over Schreiner at the 2015 championships.
  • Trinity advances to the SCAC championship match for the second consecutive year and 11th time in program history.
  • Colorado College finishes the season with an 8-3-6 mark.
