Flippin
led the War Hawks to a pair of key conference wins on the road last weekend to improve to 7-1 in SCAC play. Flippin averaged 20.0 points on 54.5 percent shooting, including 50.0 percent from beyond the arc (7-for-14) and added 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.5 steals and 0.5 blocks per game. On the season, Flippin is currently ninth in the SCAC averaging 14.5 points per game and averaging 37.9 percent from beyond the arc, eighth best in the conference.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
First-year forward Shyanne Phillips of Centenary continued her impressive rookie season by averaging 20.5 PPG in two weekend games at Schreiner and Trinity. Against the Tigers on Saturday, she led all scorers with 24 points and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds for her eighth double-double and scored in double figures for the ninth time. Phillips has reached double figures in six of her last eight games and had a double-double for the second-straight day after posting 17 points and 16 rebounds against Schreiner on Friday. For the weekend she totaled 26 rebounds, two assists, two blocked shots, and a steal, and finished 11-15 at the FT line. Junior guard Kayla Mackel of Colorado College averaged 15 points per game, leading the Tigers to a 2-0 weekend on the road at Austin College and Dallas. She poured in a game-high 21 points against Dallas on Sunday, the seventh 20+ point performance this season. Mackel finished the weekend with 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and blocks per game. On Friday against Austin College, she notched both season highs in blocks (3) and steals (2). Senior forward Naomi Smith of Ozarks averaged 15.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game in a pair of contests last week for the Eagles, highlighted by a 22-point, 11 rebound double-double effort in a loss at Schreiner on Sunday. Junior guard Brie Sosa of Schreiner lifted the Mountaineers to a pair of key SCAC wins at home last weekend, knocking off Centenary (72-63) and Ozarks (64-58). Sosa averaged 16.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 3.0 steaks and 0.5 block per game in the two SCAC wins over the weekend. Sophomore guard Kenna Gibson of St. Thomas was outstanding off the bench, averaging 14.5 points while making plays on both ends. Gibson also contributed 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and five steals across two key SCAC win, extending the Celts win streak to five. Gibson’s clutch performance was highlighted by her game-winning shot against Austin College, securing the win for St. Thomas to remain undefeated last weekend. Junior guard Angelina Sotelo of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs to a home SCAC split last weekend, falling to McMurry on Friday before knocking off Concordia on Saturday. Sotelo averaged 16.5 points on 50 percent shooting and added 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game. Junior guard Kylie Minter of Trinity to a pair of SCAC home wins over the weekend, defeating Ozarks and Centenary. Minter averaged 16.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 2.0 steals per game in two games, hitting 11-of-15 (73.3%) from the floor, 6-of-9 (66.7%) from three-point range, and all five free throw attempts. She opened with 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting against Ozarks, collecting four rebounds and dishing out three assists. Against Centenary, Minter scored 17 points on 5-of-8 shooting 5-of-8 from the field and went a perfect 4-for-4 from the line. She also dished out six assists to go with three steals and three boards.
