REAGAN OWEN OF MCMURRY UNIVERSITY, a senior from Sonora, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week for meets held from Monday, March 17 through Sunday, March 23. SCAC Track & Field Weekly Release - Week 4
Owen threw 55.6 meters (182' 5") to win the hammer throw at the TLU D3 Challenge, a distance that is currently the best in the country. He also won discuss with a toss of 44.77 meters (146' 11").
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Senior Ezra Acero of Texas Lutheran leads the nation in the pole vault after his winning clearance of 4.95 meters (16' 2 3/4") at the TLU D3 Challenge this weekend. He also finished third in the javelin with a toss of 49.19 meters (161' 5"), which is currently ranked 15th nationally. Senior Matthew Hicks of St. Thomas won the high jump at the TLU D3 Challenge with a conference-leading mark of 2.04 meters (6' 8 1/4"). This effort currently ranks as the third-best jump in the D3. Sophomore Aaron Chang of Trinity threw a new personal best in the shot put and won the TLU D3 Challenge with a throw of 14.04 meters - a throw that ranks first in the conference this season. He also threw a new personal best in the hammer (42.58 meters) to finish third. Sophomore Calvin Mason of LeTourneau had two top-10 finishes and set two program records at the TCU Alumni Invite. He finished 10th in the discus with a program-record toss of 46.18 meters (151' 6") - a mark that currently ranks seventh in the nation. Mason also set a record in the hammer at 46.66 meters (153' 1") to place 10th. He was 14th in the shot put at 13.34 meters (43' 9 1/4").
