BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Centre and Rhodes advanced to tomorrow's semifinal matches after picking up quarterfinal wins against Sewanee and Hendrix, respectively. Centre will take on second-seed Birmingham-Southern while Rhodes will face top-seeded Trinity.
Game One
Fourth-seeded Rhodes scored two second-half goals in a 2-0 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference quarterfinal win over fifth-seeded Hendrix at BSC Soccer Park on the campus of Birmingham-Southern. BOX SCORE
The Lynx improved to 10-6-2 overall, while the Warriors ended their season with a record of 8-9-1.
Junior Mae Casey delivered the Lynx's first goal at 47:34 before senior Ashley Ladd made it 2-0 15 minutes later. First-year midfielder Kelsey Keown assisted on both goals.
Rhodes held a 21-4 edge in shots and a 7-2 advantage in corners. Rhodes' Stephanie Sermonet recorded three saves as the Lynx posted its seventh shutout of the season. Allison Mosley totaled six saves for Hendrix.
Junior forward Mel Roach paced the Warriors with three shots in a losing effort.
Rhodes will battle the top seed in the SCAC Tournament Trinity tomorrow at noon with the winner advancing to the championship match on Sunday. Earlier in the season Trinity defeated Rhodes 6-0 in San Antonio.

Game Two
Senior midfielder Kelsey Boling scored an unassisted goal with just five minutes remaining, as the third-seeded Centre Colonels edged the sixth-seeded Sewanee Tigers 1-0 in the second quarterfinal match at the SCAC Soccer Tournament hosted by Birmingham-Southern. BOX SCORE
Senior goalkeeper Kelli Lenz of Centre registered two saves as the Colonels posted its 13th shutout of the season. Megan Poole totaled six saves for Sewanee.
The Colonels and Purple Tigers both recorded nine shots with Centre posting six on goal to just two by Sewanee. The Colonels also had a 10-5 edge in corner kicks.
Faith Spencer and Layne Ezzell led Sewanee with two shots each in a losing effort as the Purple Tigers end their season with a record of 6-11-2.
With the win Centre improves to 13-3-2 on the season and will advance to play the second-seeded Birmingham-Southern Panthers tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 CST in the women's second semifinal match. The Colonels and Panthers tied 0-0 just six days ago as both teams closed out the regular season.
