SUWANEE, Ga. - Trinity University Tigers senior Abby Loar and first-year player Emily Jorgens have been elected to the second annual D3soccer.com Women's All-America Team.
Loar was also named the D3soccer.com Forward of the Year, as well as making the All-America First Team. Jorgens, a midfielder, was selected for the All-America Third Team.
The prolific Loar, who was a D3soccer.com Third Team All-American last year, is Trinity's all-time career scoring and points leader, with 58 goals and 150 total points. During the 2011 campaign, Loar accounted for 21 goals (eight game-winners), and made 11 assists, for 53 points. She is third in Tiger career assists, with 34.
Earlier this month, Loar was selected for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Women's All-America Team for the second straight year. She also earned a slot on the NSCAA All-West Region Team, and was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year, for the second consecutive time.
Jorgens, an NSCAA All-West Region and All-SCAC honoree, scored 14 goals (four game-winners), and chalked up a team-leading 13 assists, for 41 total points.
Trinity, led by NSCAA West Region Coach of the Year Lance Key, registered a 20-0-0 regular-season record, won the SCAC Championship, and advanced to the third round of the NCAA playoffs. The Tigers completed the season with a 22-1-0 record. Coach Key was also honored by his peers as SCAC Coach of the Year.
