ITHACA, N.Y. - Ithaca and Trinity battled through 100 minutes of scoreless regulation and the first overtime, but needed just 1:42 of the second overtime to decide a winner as the Bombers took a 1-0 NCAA third round victory over the previously unbeaten Tigers.
Ithaca improved to 14-3-3 overall with its third straight victory, while the Tigers dropped to 22-1 snapping its 22 game winning streak, the longest in SCAC history and marks the first time Trinity has been shutout since September 4th, 2010.
Jackie Rodabaugh delivered the game-winner on Ellyn Grant-Keane's assist at 101:42 as Ithaca moved to 2-1 in overtime games this season.
Trinity held a 25-18 edge in shots, with both teams notching nine shots on goal. Trinity also posted a 6-4 edge in corners. Becca Salant totaled nine saves on the way to her eighth shutout of the year for Ithaca. Devan Osegueda of Trinity posted eight saves in a losing effort.
Trinity's 22 wins sets a new school record for wins in a single season as the Tigers fall to 19-17 all-time in the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers will graduate five seniors who closed out their career's today with an incredible four year record of 70-8-2.
With the win, Ithaca will face either Cortland or Concordia-Moorhead Sunday at 1 p.m. with a trip to the "final four" in San Antonio at stake.
