SUWANEE, Ga. - Birmingham-Southern College saw its three game winning streak come to an end after a 13-8 loss to Adrian in Knoxville, Tenn. Centre remains the the lone undefeated team in the SCAC, among those that have played, as Colorado College opens up its season this week.

Birmingham-Southern played one game last week,
falling to Adrian College, 13-8, in a neutral-site game played in
Knoxville, Tenn. BSC returns home this Wednesday and Sunday, taking
on Piedmont College and Massachusetts Boston in Panther
Stadium.
Centre moved to 2-0 on the season with a 16-6
victory at Hanover College on Saturday. Connor Stubbs led the way
with five goals while Zack Connors and Wesley Hardman each had
three. Connors also added three assists. After falling behind 1-0,
the Colonels went ahead for good by scoring the next five goals.
Centre went on to extend the lead to 11-4 by halftime and 14-4 by
the end of the third quarter before trading goals with Hanover in
the fourth. Clayton Brown made 11 saves for the Colonels, who host
to Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday and Otterbein on Saturday.
Colorado College opens the 2012 regular season
on March 7 when the Tigers host Alfred before traveling to Dallas
to take on Hampden-Sydney at Southern Methodist University on March
11. The Tigers are coming off a 2011 season in which they went 15-1
and 7-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and won
their second straight SCAC championship in the inaugural SCAC
tournament. With the SCAC championship, Colorado College earned the
league’s first-ever bid to the NCAA Division III Men’s
Lacrosse Championship.
Dallas had the week off. The Crusaders (0-2, 0-0 SCAC)
return to action on Thursday, March 8 when they host the U.S.
Merchant Marine Academy.
Hendrix picked up its first win of the season on Friday,
topping Augustana 5-4 at home. Sophomore midfielder Cameron
Millstone netted his second four-goal game of his career and took a
school record 13 shots, 10 of which were on goal. Freshman
midfielder Sean Tjaden also scored a goal and senior attacker Alex
Wilkinson had an assist. Senior keeper Keith Clemens recorded 15
saves and senior defenseman James Hanson had seven ground balls and
two caused turnovers. Millstone had all three goals in the
Warriors’ 13-3 loss to Fontbonne on Saturday. He was also
12-of-16 on face-offs, led the team with 11 ground balls and scored
a man-down goal. Clemens had 13 saves and junior defenseman Robert
McCarthy had three caused turnovers. Hendrix will play at
Huntingdon on Saturday.
Millsaps had the week off. The Majors (0-2, 0-0 SCAC)
return to action on Saturday, March 10 when they travel to Piedmont
for a 1 p.m. contest against the Lions.
Oglethorpe had the week off. The Stormy Petrels (0-2, 0-0
SCAC) return to action on Tuesday, March 6 when they host
Susquehanna (Pa.) for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
Rhodes dropped its only game of the week to
Huntingdon, 13-10 on March 4. The Lynx were led by junior Hugh
Madison’s game-high six goal effort. Van Roerty and John
Stanford each chipped in two goals for the Lynx. Rhodes trailed
just 10-7 at halftime and was 3 for 6 in man-up opportunities. The
Lynx also were 18 of 21 in clear attempts. Rhodes will take a
nearly three week break before its next game on Saturday, March 24.
The Lynx will travel to Jackson, Miss. to play Millsaps in the
program’s first-ever SCAC league game. Game time is set for 1
p.m.
Sewanee split a pair of non-conference contest over the
week. The Tigers first earned a 10-8 win over Ferrum, Wednesday,
and then lost to Kenyon College, 10-6, Sunday. In their win,
Sewanee had at least two goals in each period, while winning more
ground balls and face-offs than Ferrum. Unfortunately, the
Tigers’ offense stalled on Sunday, after Sewanee dug itself a
deficit with no scores in the second and third quarters. The Tigers
tried to rally late against Kenyon, however the Lords nullified any
comeback with four goals in the final frame. This week, Sewanee
continues its five-game homestand with noon contests, Saturday,
March 10 against Carthage in Sewanee. Individually, attacker
Michael Morris leads Sewanee with 12 goals. Fellow attacker Pierce
Leonard sits behind Morris with eight goals and a team-high three
assist.
Southwestern continues to search for its first win of the
season as the Pirates fell to Whittier 14-2 on Friday night. In
thier first game under the lights SU was slow to start while the
Poets posted five first quarter goals and three in the second to
lead 8-1 at halftime. The teams split face-offs even at ten each,
but Whittier dominated the shot count, taking 53 to the Pirates' 9.
Southwestern committed 11 more turnovers than the Poets and picked
up nine less ground balls. Southwestern falls to 0-3 on the season
with the loss. They reamin at home to face the U.S. Merchant Marine
Academy on Tuesday at 4 p.m. and Trin on Friday at 7 p.m.
