SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Trinity University
Director of Athletics Bob King has announced that head coach David
Svoboda has resigned from the school's track & field
program.
Coach Svoboda has led the Tiger men's and women's track &
field teams for the past four years, highlighted by individual NCAA
Division III Championships in 2009 and 2010, and a fifth-place
national finish in 2010. He is leaving to join his wife in New
Orleans, where she recently accepted a job offer.
Prior to joining Trinity's athletics staff, Coach Svoboda was the
associate head coach at the University of Chicago for three
seasons. He helped the Maroons to the 2008 men's and women's
conference championship for indoor track & field, and the
coaching staff was chosen as the Coaching Staff of the Year in the
University Athletic Association (UAA) that season.
Coach Svoboda was an assistant coach at Millikin University from
2005-06, and also served as a graduate assistant and volunteer
assistant at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
"While we are sad to see David leave Trinity, we also understand
that his family has to come first," said King. "David has set the
groundwork for the track & field program here at Trinity, and
we hope to build on that to take these teams to even further
heights in the coming years."
