Trinity's Richardson Takes Home Fourth SCAC Player of the Week Honor

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - For the fourth time this season, sophomore forward Anecia Richardson of Trinity University was named SCAC Player of the Week. Her performance this past weekend helped earn Trinity the No. 2 seed in this week's SCAC Basketball Tournament.

 




 

SCAC PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK
Games of  February 17th – February 23rd

ANECIA RICHARDSON OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore forward from Mesquite, Texas, has been selected as the SCAC Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, February 17th through Sunday, February 23rd.

Richardson willed the Tigers to a crucial 77-69road win over Southwestern on Friday night, pushing the team to thesecond seed at the upcoming SCAC Tournament.

Richardson scored 24 of her 30 points in thesecond half, leading the Tigers in erasing a 10-point deficit inthe final period.  She scored 10 points in a key 17-0 runearly in the second period to push the Tigers to victory. Richardson hit 12-18 from the field and 6-8 from the foulline in the game.  She also grabbed eight rebounds and had apair of steals.

For the season, Richardson leads Trinity with 16.8points/game and is second on the team with 5.7 rebounds/game. Her 53 blocks are also a team-best, as is her 63.3% (167-264)shooting for the year.  Richardson has alsohit 68% (87-128) from the foul line. 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior guard ChristinaKime of Austin College scored 17 points and handed out threeassists on an efficient shooting night, hitting 4-of-5 shotsoverall and 2-of-2 threes to lead the 'Roos to a win overCentenary in the team's lone game last week. Junior guard Courtney Tyus ofColorado College scored 12 points, grabbed nine rebounds andhad three assists during Saturday's 58-49 loss to Dallas. Herseason total of 118 assists ranks No. 5 on the program'ssingle-season list. Senior post Christy Allen ofDallas scored a team high 10 points and pulled down eightboards to lead the Crusaders to a victory over Colorado College.Freshman guard SabriyahhFennell of Schreiner had 13 points, five rebounds and asteal against Texas Lutheran. Senior guard/forward Chelsea Leederof Southwestern led the Pirates with 24 points, shootingnearly 50% from the floor. She also recorded a team high foursteals and two blocks. Senior guard Dalia Camargo of TexasLutheran scored a career-high 23 points (scoring 36.5percent of the Bulldogs' points) in TLU's 63-58 roadwin over Schreiner. Centenary did not nominateanyone.
