Austin College's Riley; Schreiner's Jackson Named SCAC Players of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Senior guard Erin Riley of Austin College and sophomore guard Kelsie Jackson of Schreiner University have been named SCAC Women's Basketball Co-Players of the Week for their efforts this past weekend. 

 

 

 

 

 

SCAC CO-PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Games of  January 13th – January 19th

ERIN RILEY OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a senior guard/forward from Battle Creek, Mich., and KELSIE JACKSON OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a sophomore guard from Corpus Christi, Texas, have been selected the SCAC Women's Basketball Co-Players-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, January 13th through Sunday, January 19th.

Riley led the 'Roos to a split on the road and played a major part in ending No. 25 Trinity's 19 game regular season conference winning streak.

Riley 22.5 points and 7.5 rebounds while shooting 51.5% from the field and hitting 9-of-21 threes (42.9%). 

Riley went for 15 points and seven rebounds in a loss to Southwestern on 6-of-13 shooting and 3-of-7 shooting from behind the arch.

The following night, Riley exploded for a career best 30 points in an upset win over No. 25 Trinity, hitting six threes and scoring 23 of those points after halftime while also grabbing eight boards. The 'Roos now only sit a half a game behind the Tigers in the SCAC Standings.

Jackson led Schreiner to a pair of SCAC home victories over the weekend, defeating both Colorado College and Dallas on Friday and Saturday.

Jackson led the team with 19.5 points/game and 6.0 rebounds/game in the wins, hitting 12-22 (54.5%) from the field, and recording five total assists to lead the Mountaineers to a 2-0 weekend.  

Against Colorado College, Jackson had 18 points on 5-of-11 shooting with five rebounds and two three pointers in a 75-63 victory. 

Jackson hit 7-of-11 from the field to score 22 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and dished five assists in a 73-65 win. The Mountaineers have now won three of their last four games.
 
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman forward Korbyn Ukasick of Colorado College averaged 12.5 points and 6.0 rebounds during Colorado College's two road games last weekend. Junior guard Marleyna Bustamante of Dallas averaged 15.0 points/game and eight rebounds including a double-double against Schreiner while going 0-2 on the weekend. Senior guard/forward Chelsea Leeder of Southwestern shot 61% from the floor (8-13) and 50% from three point range (4-8) and was perfect from the charity stripe (10-10) to average 15 points per game in 21 minutes per game. Junior center Chelsey Stolle of Texas Lutheran blocked a career-best seven shots and keyed the Bulldogs' strong defensive effort in a 63-41 home win over Colorado College. Junior guard Hannah Coley of Trinity led the team with 16.0 points/game, and also contributed 5.0 rebounds/game. Centenary did not nominate anyone.
