Dallas' Tonry; Trinity's Richardson Earn DIII Women's News Honors

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga.
-- University of Dallas first-year guard Holly Tonry and Trinity University sophomore forward Anecia Richardson both received recognition with the release of the 2014 Women's DIII News All-America team, the organization announced today. Complete Release

Tonry was named to the All-Freshman Team and Richardson was selected as a Honorable Mention All-American.

Last week, Tonry was named the D3hoops.com South Region Rookie-of-the-Year and Richardson was named to the All-South Region Second Team.

The 2013-14 SCAC Newcomer-of-the-Year, Tonry averaged 7.9 points and 4.0 assists per game (third in the SCAC) in her inaugural campaign. She led all freshmen in assists (109) and steals (48) and was second among first-year players in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.1), third in free-throw percentage (69.9%) and fifth in scoring. She is the second consecutive SCAC women's player to earn D3hoops.com South Region Rookie-of-the-Year honors, following Trinity's Richardson who was also the SCAC Newcomer-of-the-Year in 2012-13.

Richardson, the 2013-14 SCAC Player-of-the-Year, averaged a league-leading 16.6 points per game and also led the league in field goal percentage at 62.4 percent - the fourth-highest single-season total in league history. A four-time SCAC Player-of-the-Week selection during the regular season, the sophomore sensation averaged 5.8 rebounds per game and finished second in the league in blocks with 59. Richardson had 22 points and 13 rebounds in the Tigers' 54-52 loss to Texas Lutheran University in the SCAC title game and earned All-Tournament honors for the second consecutive year.
