RYLEE WHORTON OF CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY (TEX.), a sophomore from Austin, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for meets held from Monday, March 10 through Sunday, March 16. SCAC Track & Field Weekly Release - Week 3
Whorton was outstanding last weekend at the TSU Relays, posting a personal best in the 200-meter dash, finishing seventh against competition across all divisions with a time of 27.47. Her time is currently the sixth fastest time in the SCAC to date. She also ran a leg on the third-place 4x100 relay team that posted a time of 53.35 and a leg on the second place 4x400 relay squad that posted a time of 4:26.29.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Chloe Weathers of Ozarks turned in a third-place finish in the 10K at last weekend’s Rhodes Invitational. Weathers crossed the line in tough windy conditions with a time of 41:22.25. Her time is currently the second fastest in the SCAC to date. First year distance runners Ally Leonesio of Dallas finished fifth in her first career 10k race at the Rhodes Invitational. Leonesio crossed the line in 48:23.48 in tough conditions. Her time is currently the fourth fastest in the SCAC to date.
