Texas Lutheran Softball Jumps Two Spots in NFCA Top 25

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Texas Lutheran softball team extended their winning streak to a perfect 12-0 and received a two-spot bump to No. 6 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Top 25 for NCAA Division III.

The NFCA Division III Top 25 Poll is selected by Division III head coaches representing the eight NCAA regions.

TLU's most recent wins were doubleheader sweeps of the College of Staten Island and Calumet College of St. Joseph.

The TLU bats are led by senior first baseman Taylor Yancey who posts a .513 batting average, a .692 slugging perentage, a .537 OBP and 20 hits, all top five in the SCAC. Senior catcher Jennifer Gallagher is also a bright spot for the Bulldogs as she posts top five numbers in batting average (.474), slugging percentage (.684), OBP (.535), and RBI (15).

The league's top pitcher, junior Amanda Lochte holds onto a league-best 0.29 ERA and a .121 opposing batting average. Senior pitcher Taylor Grissom is close behind in the standings with a 1.44 ERA and has held opposing bats to a .232 average.

Lochte and Grissom help make up a pitching staff that has allowed only 16 runs in twelve games and collectively posted a 0.76 ERA, good enough for seventh in the nation.

The Bulldogs will face Piedmont and Western Conn. State this weekend.
