Bulldogs Down Agnes Scott 9-0, Set to Rematch ETBU

TYLER, Texas - Texas Lutheran kept its 2016 season alive with a 9-0 run-rule win Saturday afternoon against Agnes Scott (Ga.) in the NCAA Division III Tyler Regional.

At University of Texas at Tyler's Suddenlink Field, the fifth-ranked Bulldogs rebounded from Friday's loss to East Texas Baptist with a convincing win over the Scotties (10-29), the champions of the Great South Athletic Conference.

TLU added to its school-record win total and season winning percentage. The Bulldogs are 42-4 entering Saturday's second elimination game - a rematch against ETBU (35-9). ETBU lost a winner's bracket game against No. 3 UT Tyler, 8-6.

Game time for the TLU v ETBU contest is 5:35 p.m. TLU will have live video on tlubulldogs.com.

In the TLU win over Agnes Scott, junior right-hander Amanda Lochte tossed a complete-game one-hitter. The Fredericksburg, Texas native allowed only a single in the second inning. She struck out seven and faced one over the minimum (16). The game ended in the fifth with the eight-run rule.

The Bulldogs broke open the game with a six-run fourth.

Jennifer Gallagher and Kirsten Whitesite each drove in three for the Bulldogs. Gallagher hit her 16th double and had a safety-squeeze bunt in the first inning.

Taylor Yancey belted her school-record 25th double of the year and added to her single-season record RBI count. Her two RBI bring her record total to 50. Grace Estes, Nicole Snow and Kaymee Gooden each scored two runs for the Bulldogs.
