Texas Lutheran Softball Tabbed No. 13 in NFCA Preseason Poll

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After a second consecutive Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference title, the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs sit at No. 13 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association preseason poll for NCAA Division III. 

In 2015, the Bulldogs became the first softball team in TLU history to go undefeated in conference play with a 23-0 record. They also set new single-season school records for runs (292), RBI (251) batting average (.366), wins (37) and consecutive wins (33). 

Texas Lutheran returns SCAC Player of the Year Jennifer Gallagher and SCAC Pitcher of the Year Taylor Grissom to the 2016 roster. Gallagher, a senior catcher, hit a conference-best .431 for 45 RBI in 2015. She also led the league in OBP (.493), doubles (16) and was tied for second with 50 hits.

Grissom, a senior, finished last year leading the league in wins (20), ERA (0.77), opposing batting avg. (.182), and total runs allowed (17). She was also tied for second in walks allowed (18) and fourth in hits allowed (71). 

2015 SCAC Coach of the Year Wade Wilson is back at the helm for his fifth season. In four years with the Bulldogs, Wilson has compiled a 122-44 (.735 win pct) overall record and a 44-1 mark in the SCAC.

The Bulldogs enter 2016 as the league favorite, earning six of a possible seven first place votes in the coaches' preseason predicted order of finish
