SEGUIN, Texas - For the first time in school history, three Texas Lutheran student-athletes have been named to a single CoSIDA Academic All-America Team. Pitcher Taylor Grissom, designated player Nicole Snow and pitcher Amanda Lochte accomplished the feat with the release of the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-America Division III Softball Team.

Grissom and Snow became the first TLU Softball players to claim Academic All-America First Team honors. Grissom holds a 3.92 grade point average as an education major while Snow has a 3.76 GPA in accounting. Grissom was among the top-two Academic All-Americans among NCAA DIII pitchers. Snow was the top Academic All-American among NCAA DIII designated players.

Lochte was named to the Academic All-America Second Team, placing her in the top-four Academic All-Americans among DIII pitchers. Lochte has a perfect 4.0 GPA as an exercise science (pre-physical therapy) major.

Grissom, a senior, repeated as an Academic All-American, after receiving Third Team Academic All-American honors in 2015. A two-time All-Region selection and the three-time Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year, Grissom posted a 16-1 record with a 1.50 ERA in 2016. She ended her three-year Bulldog career with an overall record of 45-6 with an ERA of 1.09. Grissom leaves with school records for single-season wins (20, in 2015), single-season win-loss percentage (.941, 16-1, 2016), single-season ERA (0.77, 2015), career win-loss percentage (.882), and career ERA (1.09). Grissom's three-year win total of 45 is third all-time in TLU Softball history, behind only Amanda Stevens 58 and Cathy McBride's 52. Grissom had two career no-hitters, with one being a perfect game in 2014.

Snow, also a Second Team All-Region selection, hit .391 with a .571 slugging percentage as the team's starting designated player. Snow claimed her first All-Region honor. She scored 34 runs and drove in 47. She posted 12 doubles, three triples and two home runs on the year and had an on-base percentage of .459. She was named to the All-SCAC First Team.

Lochte posted a career-best 14-1 record and made a career-high 21 appearances in 2016. She tossed eight shutouts and combined on one other shutout. She pitched 94 innings and allowed just 17 earned runs. Lochte struck out 68 and walked just 11. An All-SCAC Second Team selection, Lochte was the winning pitcher at the NCAA Division III Tyler Regional win over East Texas Baptist that sent TLU to the regional final.

The 2016 TLU squad ended its year with numerous school marks, including team records for: batting average (.384), slugging percentage (.544), on-base percentage (.449), stolen bases (164-for-178), doubles (104), home runs (25), and walks (149).

In the NCAA DIII Softball statistical rankings, TLU leads the nation in on-base percentage and sits second in stolen bases per game (3.42) and batting average.

The Bulldogs went 43-5 in 2016 and finished as the regional runner-up for the second time in three seasons.
