Trinity Retains SCAC Presidents' Trophy; Fifth Straight All-Sports Award for the Tigers

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- After earning six of the eight spring sport championships contested over the final two weeks of the 2015-16 academic year, Trinity University cruised to its fifth consecutive Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Presidents' Trophy. It is the program's 16th all-sports title.

The Texas Tigers punctuated the 2015-16 sports season with victories in six of the league's eight spring championships, including women's golf, men's tennis, women's tennis, men's track & field, women's track & field and baseball. Trinity finished with 542.5 total points in the Presidents' Trophy race with a margin of victory of 187.5 points - the second-highest in the 54-year history of the award.

Trinity won 12 of the 18 championships that the SCAC sponsors - the ninth time in league history that one institution has won 10 or more team titles during one academic year. Trinity owns eight of those nine performances as the Tigers won 10 team championships in 1998-99, 2002-03, 2003-04 and 2014-15; 11 team championships in 2004-05; 12 team championships this season; 13 team championships in 2013-14 and a SCAC Presidents' Trophy record 15 in 2012-13. DePauw University, with 10 team championships in 2005-06, is the only program other than Trinity to accomplish the feat.

Trinity's earlier championships this season included men's cross country, men's soccer, women's soccer, men's swimming and diving, women's swimming and diving and women's basketball.
