Trinity's Jordan Juran named USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week for D3 Women's Cross Country

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- After leading the Trinity University Tigers to their fifth SCAC Cross Country team title last Saturday and capturing the league’s Runner-of-the-Year honor, senior Jordan Juran was named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's National Athlete of the Week for NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country.

Juran is the second SCAC runner to be recognized at the national level this season as Texas Lutheran’s Caeli Taylor took home the honor back in January.

Every single point matters at a conference championship meet.

Juran gave Trinity the fewest points possible at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships last weekend with her individual title. Juran crossed the finish line in 21:48.1, the ninth fastest 6k championship time in league history, exactly 19 seconds ahead of runner-up and teammate Abby Blackwood.

Trinity had to sweat, but with Juran and Blackwood going 1-2 and a third-place effort by Ellie Catron, the team could finally celebrate its fifth conference title in program history once Paige Tangney and Lynzie Kutsner rounded out the scoring lineup in ninth and 10th place.

This is the first time in program history that an athlete from Trinity has been named National Athlete of the Week during the cross country season.
