Centenary Advances to first-ever SCAC Softball Championship Game

KERRVILLE, Texas – Senior catcher Erin Lewis drove in both runs to help lead fifth-seeded Centenary to a 2-1 eight inning victory over second-seeded Schreiner on Sunday evening in an elimination game at the 2021 SCAC Softball tournament. Inclement weather on Friday and Saturday forced the adjustment of the event from a double-elimination tournament into a modified single-elimination tournament. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the fourth when Schreiner's Danielle Pedraza delivered a two-out RBI single that scored Ashley Schaub from second base. 
  • Centenary's Erin Lewis tied the game in the top of the sixth when she came through with a one-out RBI single that scored Mackenzie Cox from second base. 
  • In the top of the eighth, Lewis ripped a two-out RBI double to left center to give the Ladies a 2-1 lead. 
  • Schreiner put the tying run on board in the bottom of the eighth before Kaylee Culpepper lined into a double play to end the game.
