KERRVILLE, Texas – Senior catcher Erin Lewis drove in both runs to help lead fifth-seeded Centenary to a 2-1 eight inning victory over second-seeded Schreiner on Sunday evening in an elimination game at the 2021 SCAC Softball tournament. The win propelled the Ladies to the championship round beginning on Monday. Inclement weather on Friday and Saturday forced the adjustment of the event from a double-elimination tournament into a modified single-elimination tournament.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the fourth when Schreiner's Danielle Pedraza delivered a two-out RBI single that scored Ashley Schaub from second base.
- Centenary's Erin Lewis tied the game in the top of the sixth when she came through with a one-out RBI single that scored Mackenzie Cox from second base.
- In the top of the eighth, Lewis ripped a two-out RBI double to left center to give the Ladies a 2-1 lead.
- Schreiner put the tying run on board in the bottom of the eighth before Kaylee Culpepper lined into a double play to end the game.
