Centenary's Petreas Earns SCAC Men's Soccer Elite 19 Award

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- In an announcement made today from conference headquarters, Centenary College’s Jaron Petreas was named the 2020-21 SCAC Men’s Soccer Elite 19 award winner.

Petreas, a sophomore midfielder from Denton, Texas, currently holds a cumulative GPA of 4.00 in Economics and earned Second Team All-SCAC honors this season. He was also named to the All-Tournament team after helping to guide his Gents to the program’s first-ever SCAC title earlier this month.

Petreas is the third Centenary student-athlete to earn an SCAC Elite 19 honors this year, Miguel Vasquez and Richard Polan were named the Elite 19 winner in Men’s Swimming and Men’s Golf respectively.

Established prior to the 2018-19 academic year and meant to recognize the best of the best within each of the league's 19 sponsored sports as it relates to both academic and athletic achievement, the SCAC Elite 19 is awarded to the student-athlete who has completed the equivalent of at least 60 credit hours at his or her current institution and has at least a cumulative 3.25 GPA. The student-athlete must also have earned All-SCAC First, Second or Third Team honors in his/her sport for that particular season.
