LEXINGTON, Ky., -- Senior outside hitter Avery Tuggle of No. 2 Trinity University Volleyball was named American Volleyball Coaches Association Player of the Week for NCAA III, the organization announced Thursday.

The 2019 AVCA All-America Second-Team selection adds the national weekly recognition to a laundry-list of accolades during her Trinity career after notching 23 kills and 11 digs in last weekend's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader sweep against the University of Dallas.

Tuggle joins current teammate Emily Ellis, as well as former Tigers Kirby Smith (2014-17) and Shawn McLaughlin (2000-03) to mark the fourth time Trinity has been represented in the national recognition.

Thursday's announcement followed the weekly release of the AVCA's national Coaches Poll, in which Trinity Volleyball remained in the No. 2 spot behind fellow SCAC contender, Colorado College.

No. 2 Tiger Volleyball hosts University of St. Thomas in the Bell Center for another SCAC double-dip tomorrow night (March 26). First serve for the opening match is slated for 3 p.m.
