LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Week six of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball season continued this week, highlighted by four conference matchups that produced three three-game sweeps by top-ranked Trinity, Centenary, and Texas Lutheran.

No.1 Trinity (13-1; 3-0 SCAC) finished 4-0 on the week. After a 16-7 non-conference victory over Mary Hardin- Baylor on Tuesday, the Tigers swept St. Thomas in conference action to finish out the week. In Friday’s 8-7 victory, Trinity out-hit St. Thomas 16-11 in the game but committed a season-high six errors. Matthew Mackey and Harrison Durow closed out the game, allowing just one hit over the final 3.1 innings. The Tigers posted a pair of victories on Saturday winning 10-7 in game one followed by a 13-12 victory to complete the weekend sweep of St. Thomas. Jack Vonderhaar finished the day with five RBI and two runs scored, going 5-of-9 at the plate. He was 4-for-5 with three RBI in game two, including a double and his fifth home run of the year. Christian Holloway went 3-for-6 with two doubles and a triple in game one and scored four runs while driving in three more over the doubleheader. Jack Wisniewski had two hits in each game, including two doubles, two RBI, and three runs scored in the series finale. St. Thomas (12-6; 1-5 SCAC) was led by Caleb Edmonds who had six hits in 10 at bats with seven runs driven in and three runs scored.

No. 19 Centenary (20-2; 6-0 SCAC) also charted four wins over the week, with a 13-5 victory over East Texas Baptist to start the week. The Gents posted their own weekend sweep of Schreiner, picking up the team’s 20th win of the season in Saturday’s finale. In the series opener, starting pitcher Connor Lee went seven solid innings, allowing nine hits but just two earned runs with a walk and six strikeouts. In Saturday’s doubleheader the Gents took game one, 4-3, and then won game two by a score of 6-5. In game one, Primeaux pitched the final 3.2 innings, allowing one earned run and two hits with one walk and three strikeouts to earn the save. Tyler Erickson went 4-for-12 over the weekend with four RBI and a pair of multi-hit games. Chance Goins paced the Schreiner (7-13; 1-5 SCAC) attack with five hits in 10 at bats, scoring two runs and driving in two. The Mountaineers did post a 14-4 victory over Sul Ross State to start the week. Jeffrey Williams led the way with two home runs and five RBIs.

After Texas Lutheran (10-6; 3-0 SCAC) opened the week with a loss to Concordia (Texas) on Tuesday, the Bulldogs bounced back with a weekend sweep of Austin College. TLU posted a 21-3 victory over the ‘Roos on Friday. Tyler Cauley doubled twice and drove in three, Cullen Motsinger tripled to drive in three, and Joe Jimenez, who also doubled twice, was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI. Holden Philippus and Jimenez each drove in three in the second win over Austin – a 4-2 victory on Saturday. Philippus added two hits and three runs scored, and Jimenez was 3-for-4 with a run scored. In the 13-3 series finale victory, Nolan Tenpas improved to 2-0 after tossing 2.2 shutout innings of relief. For Austin College (4-9; 0-6 SCAC), Justin Alphonse had five hits in 10 at bats, scoring two runs.

Southwestern (7-10; 4-2 SCAC) went 3-1 over the week, posting a non-conference win over Hardin Simmons (6-5), on Tuesday. The Pirates won two of three to take the conference series against Dallas over the weekend, taking 10-0 and 10-3 victories on Saturday. Travis Harvey pitched a seven-inning complete game in game one, striking out eight while allowing just one hit and two walks. In Saturday’s second, starting pitcher Benjamin Ludwig worked seven innings, striking out five while allowing three earned runs. Mitchell Parker and Brooks Raby followed, each throwing a scoreless inning. A three-RBI double from Trent Rashke in the fifth inning provided the big blow for the Southwestern offense.

Dallas (5-10; 3-3 SCAC) salvaged a 17-10 victory over Southwestern on Sunday to avoid the sweep. The Crusaders banged out 18 hits in the game, which included multi-hit performances by six different Dallas players. The victory was UD's first win at home against Southwestern since 2017. Zachary Taylor was a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs scored and two runs driven in. 

The seventh week of SCAC baseball continues with four more conference matchups, including Texas Lutheran at St. Thomas, Dallas at No. 19 Centenary, Austin College at No. 1 Trinity and Southwestern at Schreiner.
