Trinity Men Hold Slim Day One Lead at SCAC Track & Field Championship

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Trinity's Tanner Lacy won the pole vault by tying the SCAC championship meet record of 15' 1" which was set in 2012. He now owns two of the top five pole vault marks at the SCAC championship meet. The other Trinity win on the day belonged to Justin Johnson who took top honors in the triple jump with a leap of 45' 7". Teammate Elijah Wade finished was right behind Johnson as he finished two inches shy with a mark of 45' 5". 
  • Host Texas Lutheran dominated in the field events as the Bulldogs nearly swept the shot put. TLU claimed first, second, fourth, fith, and sixth in the event as Scottie Reyes won the event with a throw of 51' 7 3/4", which now stands as the third best mark in SCAC championship meet history. The Bulldogs swept the top three spots in the hammer throw while nearly taking all six top scores. Zachary Herman (150' 10") won the event while Jalen Starks was second with a mark of 142' 7". Reyes rounded out the top three with a throw of 139' 2". 
  • Colorado College student-athletes won both the 10,000 meter run and the 3,000 meter steeplechase. James Settles took top billing while finishing the 10,000 meter run in 34:00.33. Teammate Max Saliman won the steeplechase with a time of 10:01.15.
