LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -
Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s soccer continued last week with five fixtures on the schedule as teams continue to battle for position in the standings heading into the final week of the regular season.

Trinity (6-0-0, 6-0-0) remined perfect on the year after a pair of home victories last week, defeating St. Thomas (1-4-0, 1-4-0), 10-0, on Monday and then knocking off Texas Lutheran (2-5-1, 2-3-1), 3-1, on Senior day last Saturday. Molly Sheridan and Kaity Ward scored in both contests and finished the week with four goals apiece. Sheridan was credited with the game-winner in the win over the Celts and finished with her first career hat trick, while Ward scored the game-winner against the Bulldogs, scoring twice in both contests. The 10 goals against St. Thomas marks the ninth different time Trinity has scored double-digit goals in a contest during the Tigers’ current 123-game conference winning streak dating back to 2008.

Dallas (4-2-0, 4-2-0) improved to a perfect 3-0 on the road this season after defeating St. Thomas, 1-0, last Thursday in Houston. This marks the first time in program history since joining the SCAC back in 2011 that Dallas has won its opening three road conference contests. Alyssa Mencacci scored in her second consecutive contest, netting the only goal of the game in the 65th minute off an assist from Avery Seaman. Dallas led in both shots and shots on goal, 13-11 and 7-2, over the Celts. The Crusaders also held the advantage in corner kicks, 5-2. Macey Henderson posted her third clean sheet of the season after making two saves in net for Dallas.

Southwestern (4-1-0, 4-1-0) defeated Centenary (8-2-0, 4-2-0), 1-0, at home last Saturday to secure three important points in the league standings. It marked the third-straight 1-0 victory this season for the Pirates, who have not given up a goal since March 7th. Samiah Varnell scored the lone goal of the match in the 35th minute off an assist from Maya Fuller. Southwestern limited Centenary to just six shots on the afternoon, marking just the second time in 10 matches the Ladies have been held to single digit shot attempts.

Austin College (1-4-1, 1-4-1) secured its first win of the season last Saturday, defeating Schreiner (0-6-0, 0-6-0), 1-0, at home. 13 of the last 21 SCAC wins for Austin College have come via a 1-0 score. Daija Campbell scored the long goal of the contest on the ‘Roos’ only shot on target in the 36th minute thanks to an assist from Hallie Dickerson. Schreiner outshot Austin College, 8-7, but Maya Erwin and Meredith Harris combined for two saves and the shutout in net for the ‘Roos.

The SCAC women’s soccer regular season wraps up this week with five fixtures on the schedule as teams battle for seeding in the conference tournament. St. Thomas will take on Southwestern in Georgetown on Tuesday before four more matches are lined up for Saturday afternoon.
