SHREVEPORT, La. - Texas Lutheran's Raquel Morris scored the only goal of the game as the fifth-seeded Bulldogs defeated No. 4 seed Centenary College, 1-0, Saturday afternoon in the final quarterfinal fixture of the 2020-21 SCAC Women’s Soccer Tournament. HOW IT HAPPENED
- The two teams were relatively evened matched, taking a scoreless game into halftime, with Texas Lutheran ultimately holding a 14-12 edge in shots.
- Raquel Morris broke the ice with her first goal of the season in the 83rd minute. Samantha Martinez was credited with her first assist of the season on the game-winning goal.
- Centenary took four shots and had one corner in the final seven minutes of the match following the goal, but the Bulldogs held strong posting their third shutout of the season.
- TLU held a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal.
- Centenary finished the game with a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.

NOTABLES
- Today marked the first SCAC Tournament win for Texas Lutheran since 2017.
- This was the first meeting all-time in SCAC Tournament history for TLU and Centenary.
- The win advances TLU into the semifinals for the sixth time in program history. In the previous five semifinal appearances, TLU is 2-3 with its most recent win coming in 2017.
- Morris’ goal was the second of her career in the SCAC Tournament. Her only other marker in tournament play came as a freshman in a 1-0 semifinal win over Schreiner back in 2017.
- Centenary ends its season with an overall record of 8-4.
UP NEXT
Texas Lutheran (4-5-1) advances to the SCAC semifinals to face No. 1 Trinity which will be played on Friday, April 23rd in Seguin. Next week’s meeting between the Bulldogs and the Tigers will be the second of the season as Trinity defeated TLU, 3-1, back on April 3rd.
