LINZEE LEAL OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore infielder from Corpus Christi, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Hitter-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, February 20 through Sunday, February 26. SCAC Softball Release - Week 3
Leal was a constant presence on base this weekend for TLU - hitting .667 (6-for-9) against a 9-1 Hardin-Simmons team and No. 20 Babson. Additionally, she drew two walks and posted a blistering .727 on-bae percentage, scored four runs and stole four bases. Leal posted a .667 slugging percentage and drove in one run to help the Bulldogs post a 3-1 record on the week.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior outfielder Mackenzie Cox of Centenary had a big day last Tuesday as she helped lead the Ladies to a home sweep in a DH over Millsaps by scores of 5-2 and 5-3. Cox went 4-7 with a double, two runs scored, and two stolen bases. Cox, who now has five multi-hit performances this season, is hitting .448 with a .500 OBP and is slugging .621. She has seven stolen bases so far this season, swiping at least one bag in six of the Ladies' eight games. Senior outfielder Malorie Solis of Schreiner was outstanding in the Mountaineers doubleheader split last week against Babson. She hit .857, going 6-for-7 at the plate with a double and five runs scored. First-year outfielder Rebecca Archibald of St. Thomas made a splash at the plate recording nine hits and scoring seven runs in leading the Celts to a 5-1 record last week. She opened the week going 4-4 over the first two contests and finished the week with five stolen bases and drawing three walks. Sophomore catcher/third basemen Jessie Lloyd of Trintiy to a 1-3 record against No. 18 UMHB and No. 20 Babson over the weekend, hitting .417 (5-for-12) overall and sporting a pair of multi-hit games. She also drew two walks and posted a .533 OBP for the week.
