CHASE MAUS OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a junior from Manor, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competitiion from Wednesday, March 16 through Tuesday, March 22. SCAC Golf Release (Spring - Week 5)
Maus recorded a five-under par 67 to finish tied for second place in the individual standings at the Texas Cup with a 36-hole score of four-under par 140. His final round 67 was the low round of the event, and this marks Maus’s third top five finish this spring.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Ricky Blair of Centenary fired a 78 on Monday’s first 18 and then a 34 in the afternoon’s nine-hole round to finish at 112 (+4) and tied for fourth at the Hal Sutton Invite. First-year Jason Mason of Trinity carded a four-under 68 on Sunday, one stroke off the day’s low round, and tied for the second-best round in the tournament, to finish tied for fourth overall at the Texas Cup. First-year Bryce Stiemart of Southwestern posted a final round 72 with a team-best collective even-par for his three days - good for a tie for 25th in the 150-player field at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational. Junior Trey Schneider of Dallas fired two rounds of 73 to finish at 13th, just one stroke behind the top 10 and four strokes form a top five finish.
