TLU's Wilson Named Top 30 Head Coach in College Softball by Extra Innings Softball

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran softball head coach Wade Wilson has been named a Top 30 head coach in college softball - regardless of level - by Extra Innings Softball.

In a list compiled of the top 100 coaches from all three levels, Wilson was ranked 28th - fourth amongst Division-III head coaches and ahead of numerous Division-I coaches.

Entering his 11th season at Texas Lutheran University, Wade Wilson and his staff have molded TLU into a national power and placed himself among the elite collegiate softball coaches in the country.

Wilson has an overall record at TLU of 337-73 (.821) and a conference mark of 185-16 (.920). Wilson is the all-time wins record holder at TLU and is the most successful coach by winning percentage for any sport in school history.

Texas Lutheran won the 2019 Division-III National Softball Championship - the first Division-III softball championship in school history - and was the 2021 National Runner-up in 2021.

TLU has claimed an unprecedented seven consecutive regular season and postseason SCAC titles under Wilson. This follows winning the ASC West division in their final season as a member of the American Southwest - only the second in school history.

Wilson has directed five All-Americans, 42 All-Region honors, and 57 First Team All-Conference selections - including three seasons that saw the Bulldogs obtain a record 8 First Team All-SCAC players. In the SCAC era, Bulldogs have been named SCAC Player of The Year six consecutive seasons and SCAC Pitcher of the Year six times, while three have been selected SCAC Newcomer of the Year.

The TLU softball success under Wilson has spilled over into the classroom where the Bulldogs have been honored with 11 CoSIDA Academic All-American honors, two NCAA Division-III Elite 90 winners, and two SCAC Elite 19 winners in addition to over 100 Academic All-Conference honorees, including Amanda Lochte, the 2017 Division-III Academic All-American of the Year.

Wilson and his staff have been recognized for their efforts on and off the field. The staff has been named NFCA West Region Staff of the Year in consecutive seasons (2019, 2021) and was named the NFCA National Coaching Staff of the Year for Division-III in 2019.

Wilson has been named SCAC Coach of the Year six times: 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021.
