KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s soccer student-athletes have been elected to the United Soccer Coaches Division III All-American Team. Full Release
Texas Lutheran University’s Jack Manke and Trinity University’s Chen Adjei were among the 50 athletes selected. Manke collected First Team honors, while Adjei was selected to the Second Team.
This marks the third-straight year the SCAC has had multiple athletes earn USC All-American honors and the 12th time since 2010.
Manke, a junior midfielder from Houston, Texas, was a critical part of Texas Lutheran's success during the 2023 season. He started all 17 matches for the Bulldogs in 2023 - tying for the team lead with nine goals and was second on the team with 20 points while leading the team with five game winners on the season. Manke tied for the national lead with a perfect 1.000 percentage on penalty kicks (4-for-4) and tied for 13th nationally with five game winners. The Bulldogs were 8-0 in games in which Manke tallied a goal.
The All-America honor comes on the heels of Manke's first All-West Region selection, where he was also named to the First Team. Manke has earned an array of accolades this year, being named All-SCAC First Team, United Soccer Coaches All-West Region in addition to earning both SCAC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors over the course of the 2023 season.
Adjei, a senior forward from Euless, Texas, led Trinity with 22 points scored and six assists this season, and he was also second on the team with eight goals scored on the year. Adjei was voted as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-SCAC player for the first time in his career as well. He was twice named to the All-SCAC Second Team prior to this season.
The two SCAC selections mark the, 108th and 109th individual All-American accolades in SCAC men’s soccer history. Both players were tabbed for the United Soccer Coaches All-Region X First-Team earlier in the week.
Manke and Adjei will be recognized for their accomplishments at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Ceremony & Reception on Saturday, Jan, 13, 2024 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Convention.
