ASHLYN STROTHER OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a senior right-hander from Seabrook, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 18 through Sunday, March 23. SCAC Softball Release - Week 7

Strother was simply sensational in the circle last week for the Bulldogs, posting a perfect 3-0 record with three complete game shutouts, one perfect game and two no-hitters. Strother opened the week with a complete game shutout, 7-0, win over Southwestern, allowing just one hit in seven innings, while striking out 14. Then over the weekend, Strother tossed a pair of no-hit complete games against Dallas, including a perfect game on Friday in which she struck out 13 of the 15 batters she faced. Strother has now strung together five-straight shutouts and 34-straight scoreless innings. In total last week, Strother allowed just one hit in 17 innings of work, walked just one batter and struck out 39 to move into first place in the SCAC this season with 73 total strikeouts. The senior is now the all-time leader in TLU program history and fourth in SCAC history with 541 career strikeouts.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior pitcher Emma Shepherd of Centenary made four appearances in the circle for the Ladies last week, pitching 14 innings, allowing just six earned runs and 12 hits for a 3.00 ERA with four strikeouts. First year pitcher Sophia Ytuarte of Southwestern made a pair of appearances in the circle last week for the Pirates, highlighted by a complete game win over Schreiner on Saturday. In the win, Ytuarte scattered nine hits, allowed just one run and stuck out four batters. In total, Ytuarte finished with seven strikeouts in 10 innings of work. Sophomore pitcher Allison Hughes of St. Thomas earned a complete game victory to help lift the Celts to an SCAC series win over Trinity last weekend. Hughes got the win, going seven full innings, allowing just one run, while scattering five hits and striking out two. Sophomore pitcher Jordan Arce of Trinity got a complete-game victory in her only start for the Tigers over the weekend, handing defending SCAC Champion St. Thomas its first conference loss of the season. Arce allowed just seven hits, struck out five and gave up just three runs in the win.
