Trinity and Southwestern to Meet in SCAC Volleyball Championship Game for Second Straight Season

SHERMAN, Texas - No. 1 Trinity University and No. 2 Southwestern University each picked up wins in Friday evening's semifinal matches to advanace to the championship game after Day One of the SCAC Volleyball Tournament being contested on the campus of Austin College. Interactive Bracket | Official Website

It will be the second consecutive year the two conference rivals have met for the SCAC crown and an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament. Three of the last five matches between the conference behemoths have gone to five sets, including last year's thriller where Trinity battled back from down 0-2 to earn the victory.

University of Dallas 3, Texas Lutheran University 2

C.j. Broadbent, a second team All-SCAC selection, was phenomenal for the fourth-seeded Dallas Crusaders, coming away with 49 digs to lead the Crusaders to a thrilling five set victory over fifth-seeded Texas Lutheran in the SCAC Volleyball Quarterfinal match on Friday morning. Colorado College 3, Austin College 0

SCAC Player of the Year Abbe Holtze led the way with 15 kills while Kristen Liberty added eight kills as the third-seeded Colorado College Tigers cruised to a 3-0 victory over the host school Austin College in the SCAC Volleyball Quarterfinals match on Friday afternoon. Box Score Complete Recap

Trinity University 3, University of Dallas 0

The top-seeded Trinity Tigres got an excellent match from Maggie Emodi, finshing with 14 kills and 17 digs, while Erin Cusenbary added nine kills on .500 hitting to go with five blocks as the Tigers swept Dallas 3-0 in the SCAC Volleyball Semifinals on Friday afternoon, and punching their ticket to the championship game on Saturday afternoon. Box Score Complete Recap

Southwestern University 3, Colorado College 2

In, perhaps, the match of the night, second-ranked Southwestern and third-ranked Colorado College played an epic five set match with the Pirates erasing a 9-6 deficit in the fifth set and scoring eight unanswered to take the victory in the SCAC Volleyball Semifinals matchup on Friday evening.
