The Tigers (28-7) wasted no time putting away the hosts, defeating the 'Roos (21-17), 25-20, 25-15, 25-16, to punch their ticket into the SCAC Semifinals for the fifth straight season.
SCAC Player of the Year Abbe Holtze led the offensive attack with 15 kills while Kristen Liberty added eight kills. Defensively, Sophie Merrifield led the way with 18 digs while Julia Lawton added 12 digs. Freshman of the Year Sarah Barker added 23 assists in the contest. The Tiger defense was outstanding, holding the 'Roos to a .031 hitting percentage.
Austin College struggled in the match, but got seven kills from Madison Lee to lead the way. Lauren Wulz had 11 assists. Defensively, Madi McVay had nine digs while Wulz and Lee added eight and seven respectively. Presleigh Watson picked up five blocks while Rebecca Franklin added three.
The Tigers move on to face Southwestern University in the SCAC Semifinals tonight at 6 p.m. The Pirates knocked off the Tigers twice this season including a five set win in Seguin on the final conference weekend to clinch the No. 2 seed over Colorado College. Austin College, meanwhile, will return tomorrow morning at 11 to take on Texas Lutheran in the 5th/6th Place Match.
