Emma White, Southwestern University, Offensive Player of the Week (Week 4)

EMMA WHITE OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a senior outside hitter from Lucas, Texas, has been named the SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 19 through Sunday, September 25. SCAC Volleyball Release (Week 4)

White
averaged 5.0 kills and 5.4 points per set to go along with a .337 hitting percentage in leading the Pirates to a 2-0 weekend to open conference play.

Her strong and efficient play on both sides of the net (23 kills and 22 digs) led the Pirates to a five-set victory over a tough TLU squad, and White's 22 kills against St. Thomas put her over the 1000-kill mark for her career. The senior now has over 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her career at Southwestern.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior middle blocker Emily Ellis of Trinity led all teams in the SCAC-opening weekend in Shreveport with a .500 attack percentage that produced a team-high 24 kills in three shutout victories for the second-ranked Tigers. Ellis's 11 kills in just two sets of Saturday night's win over Centenary came on a .412 mark and aided Trinity to collect the 1,000th victory for Head Coach Julie Jenkins as the leader of the Tiger program. For good measure, Ellis tied the team-high with seven blocks on the weekend for a 3.6 points per set average. Senior outside hitter Brooke Byer of Schreiner led the SCAC Group A/C #1 at Centenary in total kills (42) and was second in total digs (57), and was instrumental in the Mountaineers' two conference wins over Dallas and Centenary. Freshman outside hitter Carolyn Dormady of Colorado College posted a pair of career highs in leading the Tigers to a 2-1 week at the SCAC Group A/C #1 at Centenary. She had 16 kills (4.00 per set) in Saturday's 3-1 win over the host Centenary and finished the weekend with 17 kills (3.4 per set) in a 3-2 loss to Austin College. Junior outside hitter Tanyse Moehrig of Texas Lutheran tallied 29 kills on a .278 hitting percentage over the weekend which included an 18-kill performance in Saturday's 3-1 SCAC-opening victory against St. Thomas. Junior outside hitter Victoria Smith of Austin College had a big weekend as the 'Roos went 3-1 to open SCAC play, averaging 2.53 kills with a .230 hitting percentage in four matches. Smith led AC with 10 kills in the team's upset of No. 20-ranked Colorado College, the program's first win over the Tigers since October 2012, and followed that performance with 16 kills against Centenary. Junior outside hitter Ashlynne Fitzgerald of St. Thomas led the Celts with 23 kills on the week and a productive 2.4 points per set. She posted a .305 hitting percentage and 23.5 total points as St. Thomas reached 10 consecutive wins with Tuesday's win against Huston Tillotson - the longest such streak in program history. Senior middle blocker Liz Lowe of Centenary tallied 64 total points, 55 kills, 58 digs, 10 total blocks, three aces, and one assist in five matches over the week, posting double-doubles of kills and digs in a pair of those matches.
