MAXWELL MIMS OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a senior outfielder from Friendswood, Texas has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week for games played from Monday, April 8 through Sunday, April 14. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 10

Mims had a monster weekend at the plate as he hit .600 (9-for-15) in leading the Pirates to a three game SCAC series sweep at home over Schreiner. The senior had seven runs driven in and scored six more, only striking out two times while posting an on-base percentage of .684. He recorded multi-hit games in all four contests, highlighted by a three-hit performance where he went 3-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs scored in Friday’s 8-6 game two victory.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:

Senior infielder Jack Baker of Trinity led the 14th-ranked Tigers to a 3-1 record last week, a week highlighted by a 2-1 series victory in SCAC play over Texas Lutheran. Baker batted .462 (6-for-13) for the week and scored six runs and drove in two more. His week was highlighted by going 3-for-4 with two doubles in the team’s 9-6 win to clinch the series over Texas Lutheran. First-year outfielder Alex Miller of Centenary led the Diamond Gents to a 2-1 record last week and a series win over St. Thomas. Miller batted .417 (5-for-12) over the weekend while driving in four runs with one home run and three walks. Senior outfielder Carson Draehn of Texas Lutheran ignited the Bulldogs’ offense over the weekend which produced one win in three games against 14th-ranked Trinity. Draehn batted .462 (6-for-13) for the week with an on-base percentage of .533 and scored two runs while driving in five. His weekend highlight was a 3-for-5 performance with two doubles in Sunday’s series finale. Junior infielder Andrew Gaspar of Dallas led the Crusaders with a .636 batting average (7-11), driving in three and scoring once in UD’s three-game sweep of Austin College. Senior catcher Mason Seay of St. Thomas led the Celts with a .500 batting average with a home run among his six hits. The senior drove in three and scored two runs as UST went 1-2 in its three-game set against Centenary.
