AVERY TUGGLE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior outside hitter from Cedar Creek, Texas, has been named SCAC Volleyball Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, March 29 through Sunday, April 4.
Tuggle paced the Tigers with nine blocks in Friday's first match on the road against Texas Lutheran, a new career-high for the decorated Tiger senior. The outside hitter coupled her performance at the net with a total of 20 digs in the doubleheader with the Bulldogs.
Other impressive performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore libero Moriah Delgado of Dallas combined for 59 digs to lead the University of Dallas volleyball defense in a split against Schreiner University. In the 3-0 win, Delgado secured a career-best 33 digs. She also had a service ace and six assists in that match. Senior defensive specialist Kaylyn Latin of St. Thomas had 56 digs, averaging 8.00 per set, to lead the Celts to a series split with Austin College. Sophomore middle blocker Riley Brantley of Southwestern was a force at the net, recording two solo blocks in one match, and seven block assists over two three-set victories to average 1.50 blocks per set.
