JACOB HARVEY OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior guard from Huffman, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, December 25 through Sunday, December 31. SCAC Men's Basketball Release (Week 8)

Harvey led the No. 22 Tiger men’s basketball team to a pair of wins at the D3hoops.com Classic in Las Vegas last week, defeating Clark University (MA) and Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (CA). Harvey averaged 27.0 points per game on 50 percent shooting (15-of-30) overall and 63.2 percent (12-for-19) from three-point range. In the 84-83 win over Clark, Harvey nailed the game-winning three-pointer with less than 30 seconds left. He followed his late-game heroics with a career-high 33 points in the win over Pomona, knocking down 9-of-13 three-pointers to tie Trinity’s all-time record for three-pointers in a game. He is just the third SCAC men’s athlete to knock down nine or more three-point field goals in a single game since 2010. Harvey was named to the D3hoops.com Classic All-Tournament Team for his efforts.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:

Senior forward Seth Thomas of Centenary and the Gents secured a victory against Colorado College 77-71 at home last weekend. He had 22 points on 3-of-9 attempts including 1-of-2 from beyond the arc and a staggering 15-of-18 from the charity stripe. Thomas added nine rebounds, four assists and a steal. This is his 13th-straight game in double figures. Junior guard Marion Williams of St. Thomas led the Celts last weekend going 63 percent from the field on 7-for-11 shooting. Williams poured in 16 points and added three steals, and two boards in a key conference victory against Colorado College last Friday. Junior guard Semaj Edwards of Texas Lutheran and the Bulldogs come out of last week unscathed in SCAC play with home wins over Austin College and Dallas. Edwards weekend was highlighted by a double-double performance with 20 points and 13 rebounds to go along with two blocks and one assist in the win over the Crusaders. His 13 rebounds on Saturday night marked a career-high for Edwards. Junior forward Brock Luechtefeld of Southwestern led the Pirates last weekend shooting 50 percent from the field (5-for10) across two games. Luechtefeld was in double-figures in both SCAC contests scoring 11 points in the loss against Dallas, followed by 16 points in a two-point loss to Austin College. Despite the loss against Austin College He was a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe and managed nine rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Sophomore forward Asher Nofziger of Colorado College led the Tigers last weekend with a career-high 18 points on 7-for-11 shooting and grabbed six boards in a 6-point road loss to Centenary on Sunday.
