EMMA FUNK OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior middle blocker from Pass Christian, Miss., has been named the SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, March 29 through Sunday, April 4.
Across Friday's road doubleheader sweep at Texas Lutheran, Funk led the Tigers with 19 kills (3.8 kills per set), including a career-high 11 in the first contest where she also posted seven blocks. The junior middle hit for a .412 attack percentage, including a blistering .636 mark in the second match, and averaged 4.6 points per match.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore middle blocker Riley Brantley of Southwestern led the Pirates with 23.5 points, scoring 18 kills on a .311 hitting percentage, averaging three kills per set, with two solo blocks and seven block assists in the Pirates' two wins over Centenary. Sophomore setter Alaina Lanik of St. Thomas had 24 kills, averaging 3.43 per set, as the Celts split their doubleheader with Austin College. She added nine assists, four service aces, three blocks and 36 digs (5.14 per set). Junior middle hitter Dayjah Whyte of Dallas led the Crusaders with 11 kills and hit .375 in the team's 3-0 victory over Schreiner. She finished with 13 points after also adding a service ace and solo block. In the setback, Whyte added nine kills, four digs, and two blocks.
