SCAC Places Ten On AVCA All-Region Teams

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Ten volleyball student-athletes from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference were named to the 2010 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region teams, the AVCA announced. SCAC champion Colorado College led the way with three selections.

SCAC Player of the Year Emily Perkins joined teammates Meredith Ballard and Amy Schornack on the All-West first team. Perkins, a senior middle blocker, was honored with her third career selection while Ballard (junior rightside/opposite hitter) and Schornack (junior setter) both made the all-region team for the second time in their careers.

The All-South first team included Southwestern University's junior setter Christina Nichols and classmate Lindsay Thompson (middle blocker). Thompson earned her third career selection while Nichols was named to her second career all-region team.

Austin College junior middle blocker Jessica Fleming made the All-South first team for the first time in her career and was the only Kangaroo named to an all-region team.

Rounding out the first team All-South selections was Trinity University senior setter Caiti Troyer. Troyer earned her first career nod on the all-region team.

Earning All-South honorable mention laurels was Rhodes College senior libero Kayla McCrury and Trinity sophomore outside hitter Madison McMahon.

Rounding out the SCAC's all-region selections was DePauw senior setter Ali Smith, who was named All-Great Lakes honorable mention.
