ABILENE, Texas - The  Hardin-Simmons Cowgirls edged the Trinity Tigers 2-1 Sunday in a NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Second Round Playoff game.

Trinity, ranked No. 6 in the nation, completed its season with an 18-2-0 record. Hardin-Simmons, the No. 2 team, now stands at 21-0-0. The Cowgirls handed the Tigers their only other loss of the season, in a 4-0 game last Sept. 4 in Abilene. From that point in the schedule, the Tigers went on a 17-game winning streak.

Tiger senior center Jordan Azar of Albuquerque, N.M. (St. Pius X), put Trinity on the board with a goal in the 56th minute of play. Azar, who scored her seventh goal of the season, shot low past the Hardin-Simmons goalkeeper from two, one-touch passes. The two passes came from junior forward Abby Loar of Littleton, Colo. (Heritage), and senior midfielder Lindsey Neubauer of Farmington, N.M. (Albuquerque Academy). Loar recorded her 11th assist of the campaign, and Neubauer made her fifth.

The Cowgirls Megan Ryan scored the remaining two goals in the game, in the 62nd and 79th minutes, breaking the Tiger winning streak, and ending the 2010 season.

Trinity sophomore goalkeeper Katie Garrett of Joshua, Texas (Joshua), chalked up six saves, and brought her season total to 53.

Hardin-Simmons led 16-7 in total shots, and 8-4 in shots on goal.

In Saturday's opening round, the Tigers shut out No. 18 Puget Sound 2-0.
