BAILEY MEYER OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior defender from Southlake, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played through Monday, September 6th. SCAC Women's Soccer Release (Week 1)

Meyer anchored a Trinity defense that only allowed just one goal in two games last weekend and led the Tigers to a perfect 2-0 start. The junior defender played a pivotal role in helping the stout Trinity defense shutout McMurry in the first match of the season. Meyer and the Tigers defense held the Warhawks to just two total shots on the afternoon. Meyer was also spectacular in the 4-1 win over Hardin-Simmons University. Trinity’s defense only allowed four shots on goal for the night.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore defender Ryann Ruis of Schreiner help steady a Mountaineer defense that grew into the season improving each game at limiting opponents in shots, highlighted by allowing just seven shots, with only two on target, in the final fixture of the opening weekend in a tough 1-0 loss to Sul Ross. Senior defender Sam Davis of Southwestern anchored a swarming Pirates defense that limited Texas-Dallas and Sul Ross State to just a single goal each and helped SU earn a 40-17 shot advantage (including 28-8 in shots on goal) through two games. She also scored a goal in the win against Sul Ross. Freshman goalkeeper Madison Johnson of Texas Lutheran corralled three saves and didn’t allow a goal while playing the opening 45 minutes of the Bulldogs lone fixture last week against Mary Hardin-Baylor.
